Cleaning
There will be some build-up of cerumen (ear-wax) in the part of the hearing aid
which is inserted into the ear, called the canal. To remove the build-up from
your hearing aid, in your presentation case you will find a little brush. Use
this brush to remove the cerumen from the canal end of your instrument. Brush
reasonably firm across the top of the canal, removing the cerumen. Then wipe
with a soft cloth or tissue before re-using the instrument. You should clean
your hearing aid(s) daily. This will increase the reliability of your apparatus.
Do not under any circumstances immerse your hearing aid in liquid (water, alcohol, solvent, or detergent). Your hearing aid(s) is quite sensitive to humidity, i.e. in steamy bathrooms or warm humid climates. Your hearing aid(s) should be placed in a jar of dehumidifying crystals in humid conditions on a regular basis, this prevents the instrument from becoming blocked. To purchase the dehumidifying crystals consult your Audiologist.
If you are not going to use your hearing aid for a long period of time, remove the battery, put the hearing aid into its presentation case and store in a cool, dry place. Never leave your hearing aid in the sun, on the back seat of a car, on a heater or near any other source of heat. Do not swim or shower while wearing your hearing aid.
