Batteries
Hearing aids which are left turned on when not in use can produce a whistling sound (called "feedback") which is very irritating to dogs and can even lead them to chew the apparatus. Keep your batteries out of the reach of children.

Extend the life of the batteries by taking them out of your hearing aids when you are not wearing them (for example at night). Return used mercury batteries to your audiologist for recycling/disposal. This will help to reduce environmental pollution.
